RESOLUTION 02-137
APPROVING CHANGES TO THE RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR CONDUCT OF
CITY COUNCIL BUSINESS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council enacted rules and procedures by which council meetings
were to be conducted on December 3,2001 and modified those rules on January 21,2002;AND,
WHEREAS,additional changes have been identified which are as follows:
1.Removal of"...but less than that number may adjourn from time to time."
from Ouorum;
2.Changing "regular or adjourned regular"to "scheduled regular,special or
workshop meeting"in Agenda;
3.Inserting Length of Meeting on page 3 per 01/23/02 amendment;
4.Changing the order of Resolution and Ordinance in the Order of Business;
5.Removing "and resolutions"in last line of the Procedure for Council Action;
6.Change in Tie Vote to reflect general consensus of attorney and council.
7.Addition of Main,Subsidiary and Incidental Motions to clarify kinds of
motions;
8.Clarification of how motions are handled once tabled in Motion to Table;
AND,
WHEREAS,staff and council have had the opportunity to provide input and/or changes to the
modifications listed above.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
9th day of September 2002 that it hereby approves changes to the Rules of Procedure for Conduct
of City Council Business with the addition of "on the prevailing side"in the first sentence
relevant to the issue of a Motion to Reconsider and the deletion of the last sentence also relevant
to that issue.
