APPROVING DESIGNATION OF VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC.
AS THE ENGINEERS WHO WILL PREP ARE A WATER SYSTEM MODEL
SHOWING AN EXPANDED MAIN SYSTEM EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 2
MILES SOUTH,WEST AND NORTH OF THE CURRENTLY DEVELOPED PART OF
THE CITY
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WA UKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,as the City of Waukee continues to geographically expand,City staff agree that
planning needs to occur for the larger sized water main grids necessary to serve the existing and
future distribution system;AND,
WHEREAS,City staff also agrees that the larger water main grid should interconnect the new
shared water tower with the existing distribution system;AND,
WHEREAS,the larger water main grid should also extend southerly to interconnect with a
potential southern water tower or ground storage facility which would be located close to the
Interstate and west ofR-22;AND,
WHEREAS,Veenstra &Kim111,Inc.will create a water system model which will:
1.show an expanded main system extending approximately 2 miles south,west and north
of the currently developed parts of the City of Waukee;
2.include several alternative main sizes to evaluate the impact on system pressures;
3.show system pressures for a scenario where a third storage facility is constructed to
serve the southern area ofthe City;and,
4.show system pressures for a scenario where a third storage facility is not constructed to
serve the southern area of the City;AND,

WHEREAS,City staff recommend accepting the proposal submitted by Veenstra &K:imm,Inc.,
who w:ill complete tills project by April 1,2004 and who expect to do so for a lll111Psum fee of
$7,500.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City COl111cilin session thiss"day of January 2004 that it hereby approves the acceptance of the proposal submitted by
Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.who,as engineers,will prepare a water system model showing an
expanded main system extending approximately 2 miles south,west and north of the currently
developed part of the city and who will in addition inclnde several altemative main sizes to
evaluate the impact on system pressures and will also show system pressures for two scenarios:
one where a third storage facility is constructed to serve the southern area of the city and two
where a third storage facility is not constructed to serve that same area.I
