RESOLUTION 03-194
APPROVING AN INCREASE TO $25.00 FROM $5.00 IN THE FEE
FOR POSTING OF UTILITY DISCONNECT NOTICES AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO COLLECT THE SAME
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City OPERATES Water,Wastewater,Gas,and Solid Waste utilities,and
charges fees on the monthly basis for the same;AND,
WHEREAS,the City,as part of its Gas Tariff,must post on customers doors a Disconnect
Notice advising customers that they have until noon the following day to pay their bill or their
utilities will be disconnected and a fee will be charged for reconnecting said services;AND,
WHEREAS,each month 2%-5%of Waukee's customers have not paid their bill by the time
Disconnect Notices are posted,AND,
WHEREAS,each month,after posting the notices,the vast majority of these customers come up
with their payment by noon on the day the utilities are to be disconnected;AND,
WHEREAS,the City feels that the posting of notices is an unnecessary expense for the City,
taking City resources that could better be utilized elsewhere.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ofWaulcee,Iowa
that it hereby increases the fee to $25.00 for the posting of Disconnect Notices,that said fee is to
be charged by noon the day the disconnect notices are posted and that said fee is to be added to
the following month's Utility Bill.
Passed by the City Council of the City ofWau1cee,Iowa,and approved the 8th day of September
2003.
