RESOLUTION 03-208
APPROVING VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC ENGINEERING PROPOSAL
FORSTORMWATERDRAlNAGESTUDYALONG
UNIVERSITY AVENUE CORRIDOR IN PREPARATION FOR
UNIVERSITY AVENUE WIDENING PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee is interested in working with its residents in the SouthFork
Subdivision;AND,
WHEREAS,in an initial meeting of residents directly effected by the widening of University
Avenue,the issue of drainage and the effect the widening ofthe street would have on the amount
ofnm-off or drainage of water from the north and west towards the seven ponds in Southfork
became ;AND,
WHEREAS,council member Stanton requested a study of the area to determine what is
currently happening and what the SouthFork Home Owners Association could anticipate
happening with the widening of University Avenue;AND,
WHEREAS,city staff agreed that a study would be necessary and a proposal was prepared by
Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.for a study consisting of 140 hours of engineering time and/or survey
crew time;AND,
WHEREAS,this study is extensive and is to be approved up to the $13,000 cost limit with the
provision that should the study require more than 140 hours of engineering/survey crew time,
V &K will present an amendment to this proposal.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
6th day of October 2003 that it hereby approves V &K engineering proposal for Stormwater
Drainage Study along University Avenue Corridor in preparation for University Avenue
Widening Project.
