RESOLUTION 03-229
APPROVING THE PROPOSAL FROM DES MOINES WATER WORKS (DMWW)FOR
THE DESIGN OF THE METER PIT AND NEW WATER TOWER DISTRIBUTION
CONNECTION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee approved participation in the construction of the water tower
and use of the water tower capacity in Resolution #03-221 passed November 17,2003;AND,
WHEREAS,DMWW who is in the design phase for the University Avenue feeder main has
proposed to the City of Waukee that they could add the design of our facilities to the same design
team on a time and material basis at a not-to-exceed cost of $11 ,880;AND,
WHEREAS,John Gibson,Public Works Director,has requested that the design proposal
:ncl ude:
1.A connection to the 24-inch feeder main in Waco Place,about 500 feet south of
University Avenue;
2.A new meter pit for Waukee;
3.A 24-inch main across Waco Place;
4.A future 12-inch main and valve headed south;and
5.A 12-inch main north,connected to existing 12-inch Waukee water main on north
side of University Avenue;AND,
WHEREAS,City Staff agree that there would be cost savings realized by designating DMWW
Engineering Services as Design Engineers for this project...
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
15th day of December 2003 that it hereby approves the proposal from DMWW for the design of
the meter pit and new water tower distribution connection.
