RESOLUTION 03-148
APPROVING THE SALE OF THE LIBRARY BUILDING AT 500 6TH STREET
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the highest of three bids received on the 7th of April,2003 was one submitted by
Flaherty Investment Co.,Michael and Paula Terrones,2593 Laredo Ave.,Adel,Iowa 50003 at
$150,000;AND,
WHEREAS,Council wished to ensure that the building formerly housing the Library and the
Christian Church would remain as a church from the outside and would house a business that
would not detract from that lineage;AND,
WHEREAS,negotiations to secure certain repairs and improvements in line with the existing
building design were approved by Mr.Terrones and are as follows:
Rebuild the restroom facilities as required by code
Scrape and pain the exterior
Remove the metal siding and replace with stucco type material
Replace doors and windows as needed
Tear off and replace shingles
Replace the existing sidewalk on 6th Street by July 1,2004
Remodel basement portion of the church;AND,

WHEREAS,Mr.and Mrs.Terrones still plan to open a small events center in the east section of
the building and to house office space in the west section of the building.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
16th day of June 2003 that it hereby approves the sale ofthe Library Building to Flaherty
Investment Co.,Michael and Paula Terrones,2593 Laredo Ave.,Adel,Iowa 50003 for the
proposed offer of $150,000.
