RESOLUTION 03-141
APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC.FOR
ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
IMPROVEMENTS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,funds in the amount of$84,350.00 still remain in the Clean Water State Revolving
Fund Proj ect No.CS 19211501,Waukee Wastewater Treatment Facility;AND,
WHEREAS,Iowa Department of Natural Resources has approved the utilization of these funds
for the improvements as listed:
Increase capacity of reed bed filtrate pump by replacing pump with
larger capacity pump;
Modify outlet of reed bed filtrate pump outlet to eliminate
short-circuiting;
Increase the capacity of diffused aeration system by the addition of
ninety new diffusers;
Addition of two new 40 HP blowers to increase aeration capacity;
Modifications to electrical and control systems to accommodate
new blowers;
Preparation of an operation and maintenance manual for the
existing facilities (not to exceed $5,000);AND,

WHEREAS,the City entered into an agreement with Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.to prepare plans
and specifications and the necessary construction services for the improvements to the waste
water treatment facility;AND,
WHEREAS,city staff desires to retain Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.to provide the necessary
engineering services for the design and construction of the additional improvements and the
preparation of an operation and maintenance manual for a total cost not to exceed $10,000
without written agreement with the City of Waukee.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
16th day of June 2003 that it hereby approves an agreement with Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.for
engineering services for Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements.
