APPROVING A 3%INCREASE IN THE AWARDED BID
FOR VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC.AS DESIGN ENGINEERS
FOR ALICE'S ROAD /UNIVERSITY AVENUE INTERSECTION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.were designated as the design engineers for this
project in November 2001;AND,
WHEREAS,this project was one of nine projects originally scheduled to be designed
and completed in the year 2002;AND,
WHEREAS,this project was postponed until this year,the engineering firm of Veenstra
&Kimm,Inc.are requesting a 3%increase to their proposed bid of$38,500 to cover
increased labor costs;AND,
WHEREAS,a 3%increase would result in an engineering design proj ect cost of $3 9,
655.00 or an increase of$1,155.00;AND,
WHEREAS,city staff have reviewed this request and find it reasonable.1
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 5th day of May 2003 that it hereby approves a 3%increase in the awarded bid
for Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.as design engineers for Alice's Road /University Avenue
Intersection.
