RESOLUTION 03-110
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO.9
FROM ROCHON CORPORATION OF IOWA,INC.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,original design,plans and specs had the sidewalk from Warrior Lane to the
entrance to the Library installed on the south side of the building;further thought,discussion and
planning dictated a move of the sidewalk from the south side to the north side;AND,
WHEREAS,FER and Rochon Corporation ofIowa concurred with the change as outlined in the
City's Proposal Request Change No.19 to delete the entire south sidewalk from the street to the
parking lot (approx 3100sf)and add earth fill and sidewalk to the north (approx 1950sf);AND,
WHEREAS,deletion of construction of the south sidewalk from Warrior Lane to the entrance of
the library at a savings of $2,375.50 and the addition of construction ofthe north sidewalk from
Warrior Lane to the entrance of the library for an overall cost of $6,097.16 have resulted in an
addition to the cost of construction of the Waukee Public Library of $3,722.66;AND,
WHEREAS,due to the City of Waukee accepting the non-conforming curbing credit of
$7,026.70,the result of this change order (including the relocation of the exterior fire alarm
annunciator at a cost of $825.95)is a credit balance of $2,478.09 resulting in a decreased
contract sum of$I,584,839.01
WHEREAS,the additional expense of constructing the sidewalk on the north side of the
building is well worth it,in that pedestrian traffic coming from the school and from the north and
east residential districts will be safer especially when students cross Warrior Lane at a pedestrian
crosswalk and when residents,as well as students,use the soon-to-be-constructed sidewalk on
the west side of Warrior Lane and enter the library grounds north of the library driveway instead
of south of that driveway.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
19th day of May 2003 that it hereby approves Change Order No.9 from Rochon Corporation of
Iowa.
