APPROVING MOSQUITO CONTROL PROPOSAL
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,John Gibson,Director of Public Works,recommends implementing a Pest
Management Program to control mosquito infestation;AND,
WHEREAS,proposals submitted by Mosquito Control of Iowa and Wilson Brothers Pest
Control were reviewed and representatives of both companies were interviewed by Mr.Gibson;
AND,
WHEREAS,Mosquito Control ofIowa will
Monitor mosquito and larva populations
By dipping samples of water to observe where larva are hatching,number oflarva
and stages of mosquito
Through Bite Count
By reviewing weather conditions to anticipate hatching and to correlate sprayings
Larvicide
Two times during the program and when necessary while adulticiding
Adulticide
Ultra Low Volume spraying of adult mosquitos will occur eight to ten times per
season
Residual spray a barrier to kill adult mosquitos,which is effective for seven to ten
days;AND,
WHEREAS,Wilson Brothers Pest Control will adulticide the entire town with EPA approved
chemicals as needed throughout the season and will larvacide wet areas and standing water three
times per season;AND,
WHEREAS,Mosquito Control of Iowa appears to be the company that will be more thorough,
more professional and more complete in pest management of the mosquito;AND,
WHEREAS,staff reviewing these two proposals recommend the hiring of Mosquito Control of
Iowa at $13,500 for the season.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
19th day of May 2003 that it hereby approves the Mosquito Control Proposal of Mosquito
Control ofIowa in the amount of$13,500 for the season.rJgqlkr=--
