RESOLUTION 04-164
APPROVING LEE ENGINEERING REQUEST FOR PAYMENT ON ADDITIONAL
SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THE UNIVERSITY AVENUE WIDENING DESIGN
WORK IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,890.00.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Lee Engineers &Surveyors has completed the final design and letting phase of the
University Avenue Widening Project and has provided services beyond the original scope of
work as previously agreed;AND,
WHEREAS,Payment for additional work is requested as follows:
1.Engineering support to Graham Land and the City of Waukee in the condemnation
process for the Reese property.Condemnation work is listed as Extra Work.Senior
Engineer,4 hours @ $90/hour,$360.
2.Originally Boone Drive was anticipated to be widened approximately 300 feet to the
north of University Avenue.The alignment was shifted to the east slightly which caused
additional taper lengths and access issued to be reviewed.An additional topographical
survey was required as well as revisions to plan and cross section sheets.

3.The easement acquisition phase included various tasks,but a particular mortgage
company required a plot plan which was not covered under the scope of work and is a
new requirement.

4.The driveway located at Sta 105+1 08 was to be relocated to line up with the street
connection on the south side of University,however the owner requested a major
redesign by extending the drive north 120 feet to allow access to the garage directly.
This design required additional survey and design beyond the original scope of the work.

WHEREAS,the original contract amount was $117,500.00 and with the February 4,2004
request of$4970 and this request of$4890 the total contract amount will be revised to $127,360;

WHEREAS,the has reviewed the proposal and find it to be reasonable;AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
12th day of July 2004 that it hereby approves Lee Engineering request for payment on additional
services provided for the University Avenue widening design work in the amount of $4890.00.
