RESOLUTION 04-28
APPROVING V &K ENGINEERING DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR SOUTHFORK
DRIVE CULVERT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the "Report on University Avenue Corridor Stormwater Drainage Study for
Waukee"concludes on page 22 of that report that "Culvert 9 -the culvert under
Southfork Drive -and the channel protection immediately downstream is inadequate and
should be upgraded";AND,
WHEREAS,at the request of city staff,Mik Briedis and staff of Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.
prepared a proposal covering the scope and cost of engineering services for the upgrade
of that culvert and the area immediately downstream of the outlet of that culvert;AND,
WHEREAS,those engineering services will include:
1)a topographical field survey from 300 feet downstream of Southfork Drive to
the siltation pond on the upstream side of Southfork Drive;
2)a preliminary design concept which will include gab ion baskets immediately
downstream of the existing and proposed culvert and the location of the inlet to the
proposed new culvert a distance south of the existing culvert;
3)easement preparation;and
4)construction services of staking,processing change orders and partial pay
estimates;AND,
WHEREAS,the scope of this work approved by city staff will not exceed a lump sum
fee of$9,100.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 2nd day of February 2004 that it hereby approves V &K Engineering Design
Proposal for Southfork Drive Culvert Improvement Project.
