HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-05-03-Resolutions 04-87_Personnel Policy Handbook - RevisionsTHE CITY OF WAUKEE,lOW A RESOLUTION 04-87 ) APPROVING "RETURN TO WORK"POLICY FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE AND DIRECTING ITS INCLUSION IN THE CITY'S EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK INTHENAMEANDBYTHEAUTHORITYOFTHECITYOFWAUKEE,IOWA WHEREAS,IMWCA -Iowa Municipalities Workers'Compensation Association -reviewed the City of Waukee's practice and procedure with respect to employees injured on the job who are unable to return to his/her regular job classification upon returning to work;AND, WHEREAS,as part of that Loss Control Evaluation,IMWCA recommended the adoption of its "Return to Work Program";AND, WHEREAS,the objectives of this program are: 1.To return employees who are injured on the job to work as soon as possible when there is not significant risk of substantial harm to themselves and others. 2.To minimize financial hardship and emotional stress to the employee who has sustained a work-related injury. 3.To assist employees in returning to work at a level as close as practicable to his/her pre-injury earnings and productivity. 4.To retain qualified and experienced employees. 5.To reduce the cost of disability benefit programs.;AND, WHEREAS,staff have reviewed tins program and recommend its adoption. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 3"d day of May 2004 that it hereby approves the "RetlUTIto Work"Policy for the City of Waukee as changed to clarify Section lieF)by the addition of the wording "off duty"to clarify that personal injury/illness as defined in tins section refers to injury/illnesses that occurred when an employee was off-duty or on personal time;and direct the policy's inclusion in the City's Employee Handbook.
