RESOLUTION 04-116
APPROVING HIRING AN APPRAISER FOR VALUING PROPERTY
BEING PURCHASED FROM GILCREST/JEWETT LUMBER CO.
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ALICE'S ROAD &UNIVERSITY AVENUE
INTERSECTION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,City of Waukee staff recently reviewed a real estate appraisal conducted by
Iowa Appraisal &Research Corporation and dated March 9,2004 on the land needed for
the redesign and construction of the Alice's Road and University Avenue Intersection;
AND,
WHEREAS,this appraisal does not appear to be consistent with recent comparable
property sales in the area;AND,
WHEREAS,City staff are recommending the hiring of'Mr,Mike Olson of the Olson
Group to provide the City with a second appraisal for this land at a price of $4,000;AND,
WHEREAS,a second appraisal will provide the Council with a dollar amount that may
be compared with the first appraisal to determine,ifthe first appraisal is reasonable.]
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 7'h day of June 2004 that it hereby approves hiring Mr.Mike Olson of Olson
Group as the appraiser for valuing property being purchased from Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber
Co.for design and construction of Alice's Road &University Avenue Intersection.
