RESOLUTION 05-50
RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF ALEX J.CARLSON IN HIS
PURSUIT OF AN EAGLE SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Alex J.Carlson received the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop #48 Saturday,
April 2,2005;AND,
WHEREAS,one ofthe final projects a young man must complete before receiving the
Eagle Scout Achievement Award is the development,organization and administration of
a project benefiting the community as a whole or in part;AND,
WHEREAS,Alex chose to benefit the entire community by benefiting the Instrumental
Music Department in the Waukee Community Schools;AND,
WHEREAS,Alex,a trumpet play and member of the band,created a computer data
base,which would catalogue all sheet music in the instnunental music department by
Title,Composer,Genre or Type of Music,and Iowa Band Master Degree of Difficulty
from 1 to 5;AND,1
WHEREAS,knowing a data base is only as good as the data contained within,Alex
created the input sheet and then recruited,trained,organized and monitored volunteers
who followed through with the project until it was completed;AND,
WHEREAS,Alex Carlson's initiative and leadership skills have left to the Band
Director and to students participating in band in the years to come,a more organized and
more easily administered instrumental music program.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 4th day of April 2005 that it hereby approves awarding this resolution to
Alex Carlson in recognition of his achievements in the field of scouting and expresses it's
sincere gratitude in his efforts in making the instrumental band program better for his
having been a student at the Waukee Community Schools.
