RESOLUTION 05-16
ENDORSING THE ACTION OF THE DALLAS COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
IN RESTRICTING THE AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCTS CONTAINING A
COMBINATION OF PSEUDOEPHEDRINE AND OTHER INGREDIENTS NEEDED IN
THE MANUFACTURE OF METHAMPHETAMINE,AN ILLEGAL DRUG IN THE
STATE OF IOWA
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORlTY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,methamphetamine is a dangerous and illegal drug that is a highly addictive
substance;dangerous to health,safety,and welfare of the community;AND,
WHEREAS,pseudoephedrine and products containing pseudoephedrine in sufficient quantities
contribute to the ease of manufacturing methamphetamine;AND,
WHEREAS,the Dallas County Board of Supervisors has enacted a resolution supporting an
ordinance restricting the sale of products containing a detectable amount of pseudoephredine in
combination with other active ingredients to two (2)pre-packaged units,not to exceed one
hundred and ninety-two (192)pills,tablets,capsules or other form of individual dosage units or
twenty (20)fluid ounces during a calendar day per customer and to record such sale in an
activity log,which shall provide name,address and telephone number of the purchaser.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
17th day of January 2005 that it hereby endorses the action taken by the Dallas County Board of
Supervisors to promote and facilitate the health,safety,and welfare of the community within the
County of Dallas by restricting the availability of substances containing pseudoephedrine and
other ingredients used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine and also encourages the Iowa
Legislature to take similar action.
