RESOLUTION 05-17
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE
WASTEWATER RECLAMATION AUTHORITY (WRA)FOR CITY OF
WAUKEE MEMBERSHIP IN THE WRA AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF
$40,660 TO INITIATE NEGOTIATIONS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Wastewater Reclamation Authority (WRA)is comprised of Altoona,
Ankeny,Bondurant,Clive,Des Moines,Johnston,Pleasant Hill,West Des Moines,Polk
and Warren Counties,Urbandale/Windsor Heights and Urbandale Sanitary Sewer
Districts;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,becoming more and more part of the Des Moines
Metropolitan area is considering membership in the Des Moines Metro WRA;AND,
WHEREAS,future growth and development ofthe City of Waukee will increasingly
burden the current Waukee wastewater treatment facility;AND,
WHEREAS,pursuing membership in the DM Metro WRA would be to our benefit as
we anticipate the expansion of our sanitary sewer system;AND,
WHEREAS,staff recommend proceeding with the negotiations.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 24th day of January,2005 that it hereby approves negotiating with the
Wastewater Reclamation Authority for City of Waukee membership in the WRA and
approves the initial payment of $40,660 to initiate negotiations.
