RESOLUTION 04-217
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF 2 MILLION GALLONS OF PURCHASE
CAPACITY FROM DES MOINES WATER WORKS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,in July of2004,the City of Waukee was provided with Des Moines Water
Work's Cost of Service Study which indicated a 4.8%increase and later informed the
suburbs that the with storage water rate would increase from $1.38 to $2.00 per 1000
gallons and the purchase capacity rate would increase from $0.78 to $0.82;AND
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee hired Veenstra &Kimm Inc.to do an analysis of water
supply and storage,and based on the in proposed increase from DMWW reconunend the
purchase of2 million gallons of purchase capacity;AND
WHEREAS,Public Financial Risk was also asked to do an analysis and they also
reconnnend the purchase of 2 million gallons of purchase capacity;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL YED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,
Iowa that the purchase of2 million gallons of purchase capacity from DMWW be
approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,and appr ved the 27'h day of
September 2004.
