HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-10-27-Resolutions 04-246_MPO STP ApplicationA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WAUKEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE FEDERAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP)TO THE DES MOINES AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO)TO ASSIST IN THE FUNDING OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF (1)THE WIDENING OF 'I UNIVERSITY AVENUE FROM ALICE'S ROAD TO L.A.GRANT PARKWAY;(2)THE WIDENING OF ALICE'S ROAD FROM HIGHWAY 6 TO UNIVERSITY AVENUE;AND (3) THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALICE'S ROAD FROM UNIVERSITY AVENUE TO ASHWORTH ROAD AND FURTHER APPROVING THE APPLICATION WHICH OBLIGATES THE CITY OF WAUKEE TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID PROJECTS Whereas,the City of Waukee is a full member of the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization;and Whereas,the Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP)provides funding to local jurisdictions for the construction of eligible projects;and Whereas,the program is administered by the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization which prioritizes and ranks all project applications;and Whereas,funding from STP is at the 50%level and requires a 50%match from the local government. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE IN SESSION THIS 27TH DAY OF OCTOBER 2004 IN RESOLUTION #04-246,that: 1.The Waukee City Council supports and approves the attached application for Federal Surface Transportation Program funding.I 2.·The Waukee City Council hereby commits the City of Waukee to provide matching funds, secured through public and private investment,as required by the Federal Surface Transportation Program. 3.The City of Waukee hereby commits to accepting and maintaining these improvements,once completed,for a minimum of twenty (20)years. 4.The Mayor of Waukee is hereby authorized to approve and execute the application on behalf of the Waukee City Cour..-..- ATTEST: Mark J.Arentsen ROLLCALL: Nicholas Gruber: Donald L.Bailey Jr.: William Peard: Darlene Stanton: JeffV.Mertz: ity Administrator/Clerk Ayes Nays X-- X Absent X X X--
