RESOLUTION 08-70
APPROVING THE SENDING OF FLOWERS TO ESTEEMED CITIZENS AND
COLLEAGUES FOR SUCH LIFE EVENTS AS BIRTH,ILLNESS AND DEATH
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE.IOWA
WHEREAS,it has always been the intent of the City Council to acknowledge the contribution of
its citizens and colleagues who have participated in the growth,development and improvement of
the community;AND,
WHEREAS,this acknowledgement includes and where appropriate the sending of flowers for
occasions such as:
•selecting a recipient for the Citizen of the Year award and the Volunteer of the Year award;
•illness or death of a colleague or of a close relative defined as parent,spouse,child,
brother,sister,and the in-law or step relative of this list;
•for the birth of a child to a colleague;
•any other person or occasion as deemed appropriate and approved by the City
Administrator;AND,
WHEREAS,the sending of flowers during an illness or at the time of death of the person so
honored or of a close relative listed above is also appropriate when sending to esteemed colleagues
in other communities who have had the best interests of the Waukee community at heart;AND,
WHEREAS,this expression of respect,gratitude,friendship and cordiality these flowers represent
a way for the council and staff to show their appreciation for the contribution of the individuals.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 7'h
day of April 2008 that it hereby approves the sending of flowers to esteemed citizens and
colleagues during illness and at the time of death.
