RESOLUTION 08-76 ]APPROVING APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE WAUKEE
PUBLIC LIBRARY'S PURSUANCE OF THE MANDERS PROJECT CONTINGENT
UPON ACCEPTABLE ARRANGEMENTS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County;AND,
WHEREAS,Harold "Hal"Manders,a former Waukee resident and professional baseball
player,generously wishes to donate an extensive collection of baseball and Waukee history
memorabilia to the Waukee Public Library and the Waukee Public Library Foundation;AND,
WHEREAS,this gift includes not only a valuable and historic collection,but also the funding
needed to construct an addition to the Waukee Public Library in order to house the collection
and other Waukee history memorabilia;AND,
WHEREAS,at its April meeting,the Waukee Public Library Foundation voted to accept this
exceptional and generous gift pending approval of funding and a legal agreement among all
parties;AND,
1WHEREAS,in order to proceed with a project of such magnitude and in as timely a manner
as possible,the Waukee Public Library,Waukee Public Library Foundation and Waukee
Public Library Board of Trustees ask for the support of the Waukee City Council for the
project.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 21 st day of April,2008,that it hereby approves a resolution of support for the Waukee
Public Library's pursuance of the Manders project contingent upon acceptable arrangements.
