HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-09-14-Resolutions 09-182_Ballot Language - Hotel-Motel TaxRESOLUTION 09-182 RESOLUTION SUBMITTING THE QUESTION OF THE IMPOSITION OF A LOCAL HOTEL AND MOTEL TAX IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 423A OF THE IOWA CODE. WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa desires to submit to the electorate of the City of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa the question of the imposition of a Hotel and Motel tax within the corporate boundaries of the City at the rate of 7%at the time of the next regular election effective January 1,2010,to remain in effect until changed as provided by law; and WHEREAS,the City Council for the City of Waukee has considered and discussed the issue and believes it is appropriate for the electorate to consider the issue at this time. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY TI-IB CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA: Section 1.That the question of the imposition of a Local Hotel and Motel Tax within the corporate limits of the City of Waukee,Dallas County Iowa at the rate of 7%effective on the 1st day of January,2010 and to remain in effect until changed in the manner provided by law, should be submitted to electorate of the City of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa at the next regular city election,in accordance with 423A Code ofIowa. Section 2.The ballot attached hereto as exhibit and incorporated herein by this reference is hereby approved.The City Clerk is hereby directed to submit the ballot to the Dallas County Connnissioner of Elections in accordance with Chapter 423A Code ot wa (2009).
