RESOLUTION 08-189
APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING WITH COMMUNICATIONS
WORKERS OF AMERICA (CW A)REGARDING 24-HOUR FIRE/EMS RELATED TO
THE 2007-2010 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING CONTRACT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORiTY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State oflowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,on January 22,2007,the Waukee City Council approved the 2007-2010 Collective
Bargaining Agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CW A),Local #7102,
AFL-CIO (Resolution #07-32);AND,
WHEREAS,on August 27,2007,the Waukee City Council approved a resolution of support for
a 2007 SAFER Act Grant Application,Hiring of Firefighters Activity,by the Waukee Fire
Department in order to help finance the hire of three full-time firefighters (Resolution #07-175);
AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Fire Department received notification on April 20,2008,that the
Department was awarded a 2007 SAFER Act grant;AND,
WHEREAS,representatives of CW A,Local #7102,have reviewed and approved a Letter of
Understanding for the 2007-2010 Collective Bargaining Contract related to the 24-hour
Fire/EMS positions created through the receipt of the grant.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa on
this 4th day of August 2008 that the Letter of Understanding with Communications Workers of
America (CWA)regarding 24-hour Fire/EMS related to the 2007-2010 Collective Bargaining
Contract is hereby approved.
