RESOLUTION 05-104
APPROVING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF AND APPRECIATION FOR THE ALMOST
22 YEARS SERVED BY ERIC A.KORP ANTY AS A MEMBER OF THE PLANNING
AND ZONING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Eric A.Korpanty,a transplant from the State of New York in 1978,volunteered
for a position on the Planning &Zoning Commission in 1983;AND,
WHEREAS,P &Z gained a member,whose vision and thoughtful approach to different issues
provided a stable and concerned back -drop for all activity,which has taken place in the past
almost 22 years;AND,
WHEREAS,Eric Korpanty's dedication to the City of Waukee and its residents helped shape
the City of Waukee in ways unbeknownst to the rest of us;AND,
WHEREAS,of the many memories Eric Korpanty has of serving on the P&Z Commission,four
of them were mentioned in his letter of resignation and are:
1.At his first meeting,Eric had to vote on changing the zoning of the
farm fields behind his house to allow for residential development;
2.At the second meeting,P&Z started preparing a Comprehensive Plan
for Waukee's future and Eric suggested that the City annex all land
east to 1-35 and south to 1-80.Eric was told,"no one will want that
land for a 'long time;"
3.With little direction the P &Z decided to start acquiring the right of
way for a future bike path to run from somewhere near Waukee High
School toward Eason Elementary;
4.Still left unfinished,Eric has suggested (more than once)that the City
should add the land directly to the south of Centennial Park before
development occurs;AND,
WHEREAS,these memories show us Eric Korpanty's enthusiasm,perseverance and thoughtful
approach to future development,which has contributed to the current Waukee and will continue
to do so in the years to come.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
20th day of June 2005 that it hereby extends its heartfelt appreciation for Eric's years of service
