RESOLUTION 06-133
APPROVING THE IOWA STATE RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM
GRANT APPLICATION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council places great importance on quality recreational
trails within the community;AND,
WHEREAS,the City desires to construct a l O-foot-wide asphalt trail along the abandoned
Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way,running from the westem corporate limits to Prairie
View Middle School;AND,
WHEREAS,in order to apply for grant money for this project from the Iowa Department
of Transportation as part of the Iowa State Recreational Trails Program,an official
endorsement from the Waukee City Council is required;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee agrees to be responsible for the maintenance and
operation of the trail for its intended use,and the City shall maintain the total trail used to
justify the proj ect in public use for a minimum of 20 years following project completion.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 29th day of June 2006 that it hereby approves and endorses the Iowa State Recreational
Trails Program grant application.
