RESOLUTION 06-170 I
APPROVAL OF THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NIMS)AS A SYSTEM FOR PREPARING FOR AND
RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State oflowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,emergency response to critical incidents,whether natural or manmade,
requires integrated management;AND,
WHEREAS,unified command of such incidents is recognized as the management model
to maximize the public safety response;AND,
WHEREAS,the National Incident Management System,herein referred to as NIMS,has
been identified by the federal government as being the requisite emergency management
system for all political subdivisions;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,
Iowa in session this 21"day of August 2006,to adopt the NIMS concept of emergency
planning and unified command for use in the City of Waukee as its system of preparing
for and responding to emergencies,and direct that appropriate City officers and
employees be trained in the use ofNIMS.
