RESOLUTION 06-186
APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR PARTICIPATION IN
"LIGHTEN UP IOWA 2007"BY CITY OF WAUKEE EMPLOYEES,COUNCIL
MEMBERS,AND BOARD,COMMITTEE AND COMMISSION MEMBERS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa,is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS,Lighten Up Iowa 2007 is a program sponsored by the Iowa Sports Foundation,
Iowa State University Extension,and Iowa Department of Public Health;AND,
WHEREAS,Lighten Up Iowa 2007 is designed to promote physical activity and good nutrition,
and to help Iowans make positive lifestyle changes during the course of four months from
January 10 throngh May 10,2007;AND,
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Waukee recognizes the importance of healthy
lifestyle choices in order to promote lower health care costs,improved productivity and general
employee happiness;AND,
WHEREAS,Lighten Up Iowa is offering grants of$500.00 to up to 30 Iowa communities to
promote the program,help offset the entry fee for participants,advertise the program,and help
provide incentives and prizes for program participants;AND,
WHEREAS,funding for the City's participation in the program will be offset through potential
partnering with local groups and businesses,with all additionally City costs to be paid from the
general fund.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa on
this the 11th day of September 2006 that it supports the participation of City of Waukee
employees,council members,and board,committee and commission members in Lighten Up
Iowa 2007,and that the City Council supports the $500.00 grant application for t e Lighten Up
Iowa 2007 program.all '

RESOLUTION 06-187
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF ROSE NUTT TO THE LffiRARY BOARD OF
TRUSTEES FOR A TERM ENDING JUNE 30,2009
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,an opening on the Waukee Public Library Board of Trustees was created with the
resignation of member Kathy Coleson Horner;AND,
WHEREAS,the Library Board of Trustees recommends the appointment of Rose Nutt to fill the
unexpired term.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
25th day of September 2006 that it hereby approves appointment of Rose Nutt to serve on the
Library Board of Trustees for a term ending June 30,2009.
