RESOLUTION 06-192
APPROVAL OF DESIGNATING A PERPETUAL DATE AND TIME OF OCTOBER 30
BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 6:00 P.M.AND 8:00 P.M.FOR BEGGAR'S NIGHT IN
WAUKEE UNLESS OTHERWISE DETERMINED BY COUNCIL FOR SPECIAL
CIRCUMSTANCES
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,City staff recommends that a perpetual and specific date and time be set regarding
Beggar's Night in Waukee so that the parents of children taking part in the festivities can plan ahead
for the event;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee City Council has traditionally set October 30 between the hours of
6:00 p.m.and 8:00 p.m.as the date and time for Beggar's Night in the community;AND,
WHEREAS,other Des Moines metropolitan area communities also observe Beggar's Night on
October 30,and it is believed that it is in the best interest of the community to schedule the event on
the same date throughout the area;AND,
WHEREAS,special circumstances may arise in certain years for which the City Council may see fit
to reschedule Beggar's Night in order to avoid actual or perceived scheduling conflicts with the event.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 25th
day of September 2006 that October 30 between the hours of 6:00 p.m.and 8:00 p.m.shall be the
perpetual date and time for Beggar's Night in Waukee,unless otherwise determined by the City
Council for special circumstances.
