]RESOLUTION 06-44
CONSIDERATION OF SUPPORT OF THE DEPUTY CITY CLERK'S ATTENDANCE AT THE
IOWA MUNICIPAL CLERKS INSTITUTE DURING THE WEEKS OF JULY 10-14
AND JULY 17-21,2006
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Rebecca Schuett agreed at the time of acceptance of employment as Deputy City Clerk that
she would work toward certification by either the International Institute of Municipal Clerks or the new
Iowa Certification for Municipal Professionals;AND,
WHEREAS,the Iowa Municipal Clerks Institute (MCl)will be conducting an academy during the weeks
of July 10-14 and July 17-21,2006 in order to provide educational courses needed to qualify for
certification;AND,
WHEREAS,the Golden Circle Municipal Officers Association (GCMOA),a group formed to promote
efficient local government and provide educational opportunities for city clerks and financial officers,is
accepting scholarship applications for the Institute that will cover 100%of a recipient's tuition;AND,
WHEREAS,GCMOA awards only three scholarships each year,with one for first-year,one for second-
year and one for third-year Institute attendees;AND,
WHEREAS,applications for the GCMOA scholarship must include a letter demonstrating that the
Mayor and City Council support the applicant's attendance at the Institute.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Waukee City Council in session this 20th day of March
2006 that it hereby supports the Deputy City Clerk's attendance at the Iowa Municipal Clerks Institute
during the weeks of July 10-14 and July 17-21,2006.
