RESOLUTION 10-23
APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF POLICY FOR USE OF CELLULAR
PHONES AND MOBILE DEVICES DURING CITY MEETINGS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,in the interest of conducting efficient meetings and in consideration of those
persons in attendance,the City Council wishes to establish a policy related to the use of cellular
phones and mobile devices;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
18th day of January 2010 that it hereby approves policy which dictates that all cellular phones
and mobile devices are to be turned off or switched to "vibrate"mode during any and all
meetings of the Waukee City Council and its city boards,committees and connnissions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that users of such devices who must conduct business of an
urgent nature or in emergency cases shall do so with discretion and shall leave the meeting room
in order to conduct said business.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such devices shall not be used during such meetings for
activities such as sending or reading e-mails,texting,accessing the internet,or any similar use.
