RESOLUTION 10-48
SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION BY THE WAUKEE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR AN
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT
(EECBG)UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF
2009 (ARRA)
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Waukee has made the study and implementation of
cost effective and energy efficient practices a priority;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,with assistance from the Greater Dallas County Development
Alliance,wishes to apply for an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)
under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)(the "Program")for an
energy efficiency retrofit for the Waukee Public Library;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Public Library has experienced extremely high utility costs as a
consequence of inefficient energy practices and building design.The Waukee Public Library has
completed an energy efficiency study to improve the building design and hopes to implement
plans to reduce cost as well as energy usage;AND,
WHEREAS,any possible grant monies awarded through the Program would be used to improve
the Library's interior environment through energy efficient practices,while simultaneously
improving budgetary expenditures for utilities,resulting in freeing more funds for library
materials and resources.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa on
this 2nd day of March 2010 that it supports the application for an Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)Program under the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of2009 (ARRA)for an energy efficiency retrofit for the Waukee Public Library.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the Greater Dallas County
Development Alliance to act as representative in the completion and filing of the grant
application with the Iowa Office of Energy Independence and to provide administrative support
related to the grant application.
