RESOLUTION 10-138
APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMMITTEE TO BE KNOWN AS THE
DOWNTOWN DESIGN COMMITTEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,it has been determined that a committee is necessary in order to identify various
components of Downtown Design Guidelines,as well as to help in formulating the criteria for
the Downtown Facade Improvements Program which would provide potential funding for
individual building enhancement projects in the Downtown Business District area;AND,
WHEREAS,the Downtown Design Committee (the "Committee")shall be established in order
to fulfill this need;AND,
WHEREAS,the Committee shall remain in existence until such time that the Mayor,the
members of the Committee and/or a simple majority of the Council determine that the
Committee is no longer needed;AND,
WHEREAS,the Mayor shall appoint the Committee members,which shall consist of no more
than the Mayor,five (5)members representing the Downtown Business District area;one (1)
member representing the construction trade;two (2)members representing the City,one of
whom shall be a Council Member and the other a Planning and Zoning Commissioner;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee Director of Development Services shall attend meetings of the
Committee and shall act in the capacity of support staff for the connnittee;AND,
WHEREAS,the Committee shall meet as necessary and shall comply with all provisions of
Code ofIowa Chapter 21,Official Meetings Open to Public (Open Meetings)and Chapter 22,
Examination of Public Records (Open Records);
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa on
this the loth day of May 2010 that it hereby approves the establishment of a committee to be
known as the Downtown Design Coll1Illittee.
