RESOLUTION 10-194
RESOLUTION APPROVING PAYMENT TO THE WAUKEE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (WEDCO)
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,a nonprofit corporation has been formed within the City of Waukee and its sole
purpose is to benefit the City and its residents through 1)efforts related to existing business
retention and growth;2)attracting new business and development;3)efforts at developing
and growing the workforce within the City of Waukee;4)growing WEDCO to assist in its
purpose through outside funding to achieve self sustainability to fulfill its purpose;and 5)
work to promote,market and enhance the image of the Waukee community;AND,
WHEREAS,the corporation has worked to develop and implement plans to fulfill its mission
for the betterment of the Waukee community through its fulfillment of the foregoing mission,
AND
WHEREAS,these efforts serve a important public purpose and are envisioned to assist in the
retention and expansion of business within the City of Waukee;enhancing the products and
services available within the community;expanding employment opportunities available
within the community;and enhancing the economic benefits available to the City and its
residents;AND
WHEREAS,in order to serve this important public purpose,the City of Waukee has
budgeted,but not committed,in the fiscal year commencing July 1,2010 the SlUll of
$60,000.00 as a contribution to WEDCO.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City COllUCi1that the sum
of $60,000 shall be paid unto WEDCO for the sole purpose of undertaking the foregoing
activities within the City of Waukee fOTthe benefit of the City and its residents,to be paid in
quarterly installments:the first Installment in the amount of$15,000.00 payable on the 1st day
of July,2010;the Second Installment payable on the 1st day of October,2010;the third
installment on or about January 1,2011 and the final installment March 1,2011.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT in the month of January,2011,and more frequently
as the City may request,WEDCO shall update the City Council as to its efforts throughout the
fiscal year,including but not limited to:
1)existing business retention and growth;
2)attracting new business and development;
3)at developing and growing the workforce within the City of Waukee;
4)growing WEDCO to assist in its purpose throngh outside funding to achieve self
sustainability to fulfill its purpose;and
5)work to promote,market and enhance the image of the Waukee connnunity.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,and approved this the 21 st day of
June,2010.
