RESOLUTION 10-226
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR HUD'S FISCAL
YEAR 2010 SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES REGIONAL PLANNING GRANT
PROGRAM
WHEREAS,the City is involved and supportive of regional cooperation and regional
economic development within a group that has been meeting in PelTY at the Center for
Town/Craft;and
WHEREAS,tbis group recently named itself "Common THREAD"to reflect the
common interest of the group in the region's Tourism,History,Recreation,Education,Art and
Development;and
WHEREAS,this grant application is for a Sustainable Communities Initiative to
improve regional planning efforts that integrate housing and transportation decisions,and
increase the capacity to improve land use and zoning;and
WHEREAS,BUD will have available not less than $25 million to be awarded to regions
with populations ofless than 500,000;and
WHEREAS,multiple communities have agreed to be a part of the grant application and
regional cooperation within the group.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Waukee City Council in session this
9th day of Augnst,2010,that support is given to Center for Town/Craft and Common Thread in
applying for the S ustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant.
