RESOLUTION 10-228
APPROVAL OF THE RESOURCE ENHANCEMENT AND PROTECTION (REAP)
GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE RACCOON RIVER VALLEY TRAIL -REST
AREA AND TRAIL HEAD IMPROVEMENTS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the provision of open spaces,parks and trails is an essential function of city
government;AND,
WHEREAS,as over the last few years,the City has made a substantial investment in the
Raccoon River Valley Trail System with the construction of the Waukee segment of the North
Trail Loop;AND,
WHEREAS,the City currently maintains a gravel trailhead at the intersection of Hickman
Road and N.loth Street which is also the junction of the original Raccoon River Valley Trail
and the Waukee segment of the North Loop Trail;AND,
WHEREAS,enhancements are desired at the existing trailhead because of its location and
importance to the Raccoon River Valley Trail System;AND,
WHEREAS,Waukee City staff recommend applying for REAP grant funding in order to
complete the enhancements to the Raccoon River Valley Trail-Rest Area in order to better
serve the residents of the City of Waukee and Dallas County,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 9th day of August 2010 that it hereby supports the Resource Enhancement and Protection
(REAP)grant application for the Raccoon River Valley Trail-Rest Area and Trail Head
Improvements.
