RESOLUTION 10-289
APPROVING PARTICIPATION IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT OF A
DALLAS COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,in October 2010,Dallas County Emergency Management Commission voted
unanimously to begin the process of developing a FEMA-certified Hazard Mitigation Plan;
AND,
WHEREAS,the development process is expected to take 12-18 months by an outside contractor
and the plan,once developed and certified,will allow participating jurisdictions to use mitigation
funds for certain projects;AND,
WHEREAS,the Federal Government will pay 75%of the cost of the project,the State
Government will pay 10%,and the remaining 15%will be the responsibility of the local
jurisdiction;AND,
WHEREAS,the Dallas County Office of Emergency Management has stated that in many
cases,the cost will be covered by the jurisdictions simply through participation in meetings held
during the development of the proj ect;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session thisis"day of November 2010 that it hereby approves participation in the process of development
of a Dallas County Office of Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Plan,provided at least
90%of all applicable Dallas County jurisdictions also agree to participate.
