RESOLUTION 11-141
APPROVAL OF THE RESOURCE ENHANCEMENT AND PROTECTION (REAP)
GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE HEART OF THE WARRIOR TRAIL
COMPLETION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the provision of open spaces,parks and trails is an essential function of city
government;AND,
WHEREAS,as development has OCCUlTedbetween Warrior Lane and the eastern Corporate
Limits,the City has required developers to construct a ten foot trail consistent with the
Waukee Major Streets and Trails Plan;AND,
WHEREAS,there are several missing segments of the trail due to adjacent undeveloped
property;AND,
WHEREAS,Waukee City staff recommend applying for REAP grant funding in order to
complete the missing segments of this trail allowing for full use and enj oyment of the trail
system.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 25th day of July 2011 that it hereby supports the Resource Enhancement and Protection
(REAP)grant application for the Heart of the Warrior Trail Completion.
