RESOLUTION 11-231
APPROVING SUPPORTING SUMMAS,t,c.,APPLICATION TO THE
IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AN ADDITIONAL ACCESS
POINT ALONG THE HIGHWAY 6/HICKMAN ROAD CORRIDOR
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,on November 3,2003,the Waukee City Council approved an Iowa Department of
Transportation Corridor Master Plan for U.S.6 Corridor DallaslPolk County,Iowa from 1-35/80
to the west corporate limits of Waukee,Iowa (Resolution #03-217);AND,
WHEREAS,the terms of the Corridor Master Plan include a provision that the plan may be
appended,amended or vacated by the written agreement of all signatory parties,which include
the Iowa Department of Transportation,the City of Clive,the City of Urbandale and the City of
Waukee;AND,
WHEREAS,SUMMAS,L.C.,represented by Lillis O'Malley Olson Manning Pose &Van Dike
LLP,requests an additional access point along the Highway 6/Hiclanan Road Corridor,located
within the City of Waukee on the south side of Highway 6/Hickman Road approximately mid-
distance between Warrior Lane and Carefree Lane as ideutified on attached Exhibit A;AND,
WHEREAS,at the direction of the Waukee City Council,an independent traffic engineer
(Kirkham Michael)has conducted a study of the proposed "right-in/right-out"access and finds it
acceptable;AND,
WHEREAS,representatives of SUMMAS,L.C.,have stated that they have contacted City staff
with the Cities of Clive and Urbandale and that neither city's representatives object to the access
proposal;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
5th day of December,2011,that it hereby supports the SUMMAS,L.C"application to the Iowa
Department of Transportation for an additional access point along the Highway 6 ickman Road
Corridor.
