RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF
CERTAIN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS,AND FIXING A
DATE FOR HEARING THEREON AND TAKING OF
BIDS THEREFOR
WHEREAS,it is deemed advisable and necessary to construct certain public
improvements described in general as the Fiber Optic Network Project,and has caused to
be prepared plans,specifications and form of contract,together with estimate of cost,
which are now on file in the office of the City Clerk for public inspection,for the
construction of the public improvements,and the plans,specifications and form of
contract are deemed suitable for the making of the public improvements;and
WHEREAS,before the plans,specifications,form of contract and estimate of cost
may be adopted,and contract for the construction of the public improvements is entered
into,it is necessary,pursuant to Chapter 26 of the Code ofIowa,to hold a public hearing
and to advertise for bids:
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA:
Section 1.That it is hereby determined that it is necessary and advisable to
construct certain public improvements described in general as the Fiber Optic Network
Project,in the manner set forth in the plans and specifications and form of contract,
above referred to,the cost thereof to be paid in accordance with the provisions as set out
in the published Notice of Heming and Letting;the public improvements being more
generally described as follows:
Fiber Optic Installation in the City of Waukee,Iowa.
Section 2.That the amount of the bid security to accompany each bid shall be in
an amount which shall conform to the provisions of the notice to bidders approved as a
part of the specifications.
That the City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise for bids for the construction of
the improvements.Pursuant to joint agreement with the Highway Division,Department
of Transportation,the bids were received and opened under the supervision of the
Division at Office of Contracts,800 Lincoln Way,in the City of Ames,Iowa,at 10:30
A.M.on February 21,2012.
The actions of the Contracts Engineer,Office of Contracts and the Iowa
Department of Transportation are hereby ratified and confirmed.Bids will be referred to
the City Council for action upon the bids at a meeting to be held at the City Council,
Council Chambers,City Hall,230 West Hickman Road,Waukee,Iowa,on the 5th day of
March,2012,at 5:30 o'clock P.M.
That the City Council hold a public hearing on the matter of the adoption of
proposed plans,specifications and form of contract for the making of the improvements,
which documents are now on file in the office of the City Clerk,the hearing to be held at
the Council Chambers,City Hall,230 West Hickman Road,Waukee,Iowa,on the 5th day
of March,2012,at 5:30 o'clock P.M.,and that the City Clerk give notice of the hearing
by publication once in a local legal newspaper,printed wholly in the English language,
not less than four clear days nor more than twenty days prior to the date fixed therefor.
That the form of Not ice shall be as follows:

PROPOSED FORM OF CONTRACT AND ESTIMATE OF COST FOR
THE FIBER OPTIC NETWORK PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF
WAUKEE,IOWA,AND THE TAKING OF BIDS THEREFOR
At 5:30 P.M.on the 5th day of March,2012,the City Council of said City will,in
the Council Chambers,230 W.Hickman Rd.,Waukee,Iowa 50263,hold a hearing and
said Council proposes to adopt plans,specifications,form of contract and estimate of cost
and,at the time,date and place specified above,or at such time,date and place as then
may be fixed,to act upon proposals and enter into a contract for the construction of said
improvements.
The work to be done is as follows:
Installation of approximately five miles of new conduit network and
eight miles of fiber optic cable in existing and the new conduit in the
Hickman Rd,Alice's Rd,University Avenue,Warrior Lane,and 6th
Street Corridors.
At said hearing,the City Council will consider the plans and specifications and
proposed form of contract for the project,the same now being on file in the office of the
City Clerk at City Hall,reference to which is made for a more detailed and complete
description of the proposed improvements,and at said time and place the Council will
also receive and consider any objections to said plans,specifications,estimate of cost and
form of contract made by any interested party.
Plans and specifications governing the construction of the proposed
improvements,and also the prior proceedings of the City Council referring to and
defining said proposed improvements are hereby made a part of this notice and the
proposed contract by reference and the proposed contract shall be executed in compliance
therewith.
Copies of said plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the City
Clerk in City Hall,for examination.
This notice is given by order of the Council ofthe City of Waukee,Iowa.
