RESOLUTION 12-266
COMMITTING FUNDS RELATED TO ALICE'S ROAD PAVING,
INTERSTATE 80 NORTHERLY TO ASHWORTH ROAD
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS,the cities of Waukee and West Des Moines have previously entered into several
agreements to jointly fund,and construct,a bridge over Interstate 80 at Alice's Road/IOSth
Street;AND,
WHEREAS,both cities are now pursuing steps necessary to allow construction,at that location,
of an interchange with Interstate 80;AND,
WHEREAS,one of the requisites in allowing the interchange to be constructed is local streets
northerly and southerly from the interchange must be constructed (paved)to handle what is
anticipated to be increasing amounts of vehicular traffic and to provide a logical termini for the
interchange project;AND,
WHEREAS,the city of Waukee will be responsible for construction,and funding,Alice's Road
from the northern terminus of the interchange northerly to Ashworth Road and the City of West
Des Moines will be responsible for construction,and funding,10Sth Street from the southern
terminus of the interchan~e southerly to Mills Civic Parkway and for a short segment of Mills
Civic Parkway from ios'Street easterly to Sugar Creek.
WHEREAS,the cities of Waukee and West Des Moines are jointly responsible for the
construction and funding of the interchange.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE,IOWA,
The City of Waukee commits that local funding will be in place to allow construction of the
City's portion of the interchange as well as Alice's Road from Interstate 80 northerly to
Ashworth Road and that said construction would be initiated at a time to allow substantial
completion of the project at the same time,or sooner,as the substantial completion of the joint
interchange construction project.
