HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-08-14-Resolutions 17-384_Ballot Language - LOSSTTHE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA RESOLUTION 17-384 APPROVING FORM OF BALLOT FOR THE NOVEMBER 7,2017,ELECTION CONCERNING A LOCAL OPTION SALES AND SERVICE TAX TO BE IMPOSED IN THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA IN THE NAMEAND BY THEAUTHORITYOF THE CITY OF I'AUKEE,IOIYA WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,is a duly organized Municipal Organization;AND, WHEREAS,a petition pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 423B has been submitted to the Board of Supervisors for Dallas County,Iowa;AND, WHEREAS,elections on the imposition of a local option sales and services tax pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 423B will be held in Dallas County on November 7,2017;AND, WHEREAS,the City Council for the City of Waukee has considered and discussed the issue of the Form of the City's Ballot. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA: Section 1.That the form of ballot attached hereto as Exhibit A is APPROVED as the form of ballot for the election within the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,to be held on November 7,2017. Section 2.That the City Clerk be and is hereby directed to submit the ballot to the Dallas County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections in accordance with Chapter 423B Code of Iowa (2017). Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,and approved the 14"day of August,2017. Summary:To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the City of Waukee at the rate of one percent (1%)to be effective on July I,2018. Revenues from the sales and service tax shall be allocated as follows: 50%of such revenues to be allocated for property tax relief. 50%of such revenues for city quality of life improvement purposes,including but not limited to recreational/sports complexes,community center,trails,parks,arts, cultural amenities,historic preservation,and for other public uses the city deems appropriate.
