RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONTRACTS
WHEREAS,Bid Package A and Bid Package B are identical except for the
delivery dates;and
WHEREAS,Bid Package A has a required delivery date of February I,2018;
WHEREAS,Bid Package B has a required delivery date of March I,2018;and
WHEREAS,both Bid Package A and Bid Package B were for the gas main pipe
and associated materials;and
WHEREAS,Bid Package C is for the electrical material components related to
the gas main project;and
WHEREAS,Consolidated Pipe &Supply Co.of Valleypark,Missouri submitted
the apparent low bid for Bid Package A and Bid Package B;and
WHEREAS,Consolidated Pipe &Supply Co.included G10 gaskets in its bid
instead of the specified Phenolic gaskets;and
WHEREAS,the Project Engineer has determined that the G10 gaskets are
equivalent to the specified Phenolic gaskets and,accordingly,are approved equals;and
WHEREAS,the Project Engineer has recommended the City award a contract for
Bid Package A,accepting G10 gaskets as approved equals,to Consolidated Pipe &
Supply Co.;and
WHEREAS,Border State Industries,Inc.of Grand Haven,Michigan submitted
the only bid for Bid Package C;and
WHEREAS,Border State Industries did not include a bid for item No.3.16 for
four compression lugs for use with ¹12 AWG cable;and
WHEREAS,the total value for bid item No.3.16 is estimated to be less than
$10.00;and
WHEREAS,Border State Industries'bid did not include the specified decals for
bid item No.3.4 for the test stations;and
WHERAS,the Project Engineer states that the specified decals for bid item No.
3.4 are minor;and
WHEREAS,the Project Engineer has recommended the City award a contract for
Bid Package C to Border State Industries,Inc.that eliminates the specified decals for bid
item No.3.4 for the test stations and the four compression lugs specified as item No.
3.16;and
WHEREAS,the City Council has the authority to waive informalities and
technicalities in any bid and to accept the bid which it deems to be in the best interests of
the City:
NOW,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE,STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bids for the Supply of Materials for the Alice's Road Gas
Main Relocation Project,described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this
Council on November 20,2017 and as modified as described herein,be and are hereby accepted,
the same being the lowest responsive,responsible bids received for such work,as follows:
Contractor:Consolidated Pipe &Su ly Co.of Valle ark,MO
Amount of bid:$117,749.28
Portion of project:All Costs for Bid Package Alternate A
Contractor:Border States Industries,Inc.,of GrandHaven,MI
Amount of bid:$29,925.44
Portion of project:All Costs for Bid Package Alternate C
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute conuacts with the
contractors for the Supply of Materials for the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project,such
contracts not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.
