APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING WITH COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS
OF AMERICA (CW A)REGARDING ADDITION OF THE POSITION OF POLICE
SERGEANT TO THE JULY 1,2013 -JUNE 30,2016 CONTRACT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORJTY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,on November 5,2012,the Waukee City Council approved a Collective Bargaining
Agreement with the Cornrnunications Workers of America (CWA),Local #7102,AFL-CIO,in effect
July 1,2013 through June 30,2016 (Resolution #12-245);AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee and representatives of CW A,Local #7102,have reviewed and
approve a Letter of Understanding for the current Collective Bargaining Agreement related to the
addition of the position of Police Sergeant to the bargaining milt;AND;
WHEREAS,the Letter of Understanding is attached hereto and by reference incorporated herein;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 15th
day of July,2013,that the Letter of Understanding with Communications Workers of America (CWA)
regarding addition of the position of Police Sergeant to the July 1,2013 -June 30,2016 Contract is
hereby approved.

This letter modifies the July 1,2013 to June 30,2016,Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA")between
the Communication Workers of America,Local 7102,AFL-C10 ("Union")and the City of Waukee,Iowa
("City").The purpose of the letter is to acknowledge that the City and the Union have mutually agreed
to the inclusion of the position of Police Sergeant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Specifically both parties have reviewed and agreed to replace Appendix A -Wages (attached as Item 1A)
with AppendixA-Wages as revised 7-1-13 (attached as item 1B).
It is further agreed that Police Sergeants will be considered contained within the CBA for all purposes of
rights under the contract.
This Letter of Understanding serves as notice of the full inclusion of the position of Police Sergeant into
the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Waukee and the Communications Workers of
America.
