RESOLUTION 13-266
SUPPORTING A WATERSHED IMPROVEMENT REVIEW BOARD GRANT
APPLICATION [SOUTHFORK POND OUTFALL STREAM]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has submitted a WIRE (Watershed Improvement Review
Board)grant application with an IDALS Board (Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land
Stewardship)for stream restoration along a section of stream located in the upper portion of the
Walnut Creek -Raccoon River watershed from the Southfork outfall dam to the Clive city limits
at the southeast corner of Waukee;AND,
WHEREAS,the stream will be stabilized through the construction of riffle pools,installation of
hard armor bank protection and toe protection,and utilizing deep-rooted native plantings along
the upper bank;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee is requesting $165,000 from the IDALS Board as a part ofthis
WIRE application,which is 75%of the estimated total project cost;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee will fund the remaining 25%of the project,estimated at
approximately $55,000,for a total project cost estimated at $220,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City ofWaulcee City Council in session this
21 st day of October,2013,that it hereby SUPPOltS a Watershed Improvement Review Board grant
application [Southfork Pond Outfall Stream].
