RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS,AND FIXING A DATE FOR
HEARING THEREON AND TAKlNG OF BIDS THEREFOR
WHEREAS,it is deemed advisable and necessary to construct certain public
improvements described in general as Sugar Creek Trail Bridge Project,and has caused to be
prepared plans,specifications and form of contract,together with estimate of cost,which are
now on file in the office of the City Clerk for public inspection,for the construction ofthe public
improvements,and the plans,specifications and form of contract are deemed suitable for the
making of the public improvements;and
WHEREAS,before the plans,specifications,form of contract and estimate of cost may
be adopted,and contract for the construction of the public improvements is entered into,it is
necessary,pursuant to Chapter 26 of the Code of Iowa,to hold a public hearing and to advertise
for bids:
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE,IOWA:
Section 1.That it is hereby determined that it is necessary and advisable to construct
certain public improvements described in general as Sugar Creek Trail Bridge Project,in the
manner set forth in the plans and specifications and form of contract,above referred to,the cost
thereof to be paid in accordance with the provisions as set out in the published Notice of Letting
and Notice of Hearing;the public improvements being more generally described as follows:
•Approximately 3,600 CY of Class 10 Excavation
•Approximately 360 SY of 6"PCC Trail Pavement
•1 Pre-engineered 80'x 10'Steel Truss Trail Bridge
Section 2.That the amount of the bid security to accompany each bid shall be in an
amount which shall conform to the provisions of the notice to bidders approved as a part of the
specifications.
That the City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise for bids for the construction of the
improvements.Pursuant to joint agreement with the Highway Division,Department of
Transportation,the bids will be received and opened under the supervision of the Division at
Office of Contracts,800 Lincoln Way,in the City of Ames,Iowa,at 10:00 o'clock A.M.on
March 18,2014.The Contracts Engineer,Office of Contracts,Iowa Department of
Transportation or his authorized representative is hereby named to attend at the opening of bids
on behalf of the City.Thereupon the bids will be referred to the City Council for action upon the
bids at a meeting to be held at the City Council,Council Chambers,City Hall,230 West
Hickman Road,Waukee,Iowa,on the 7th day of April,2014,at 5:30 o'clock P.M.Notice to
Bidders is to be published ouce in the "The Dallas County News",a legal newspaper printed
wholly in the English language,the publication to be not less than four clear days nor more than
forty-five days prior to the date fixed for the letting.
That the City Council hold a public hearing on the matter ofthe adoption of proposed
plans,specifications and form of contract for the making of the improvements,which documents
are now on file in the office ofthe City Clerk,the hearing to be held at the Council Chambers,
City Hall,230 West Hickman Road,Waukee,Iowa,on the 7th day of April,2014,at 5:30
o'clock P.M.,and that the City Clerk give notice of the hearing by publication once in a local
legal newspaper,printed wholly in the English language,not less than four clear days nor more
than twenty days prior to the date fixed therefor.
