RESOLUTION 14-156
APPROVING AN IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IOWA STATE
RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION
[RACCOON RIVER VALLEY TRAILHEAD PUBLIC ART PROJECT]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Trailhead Art Committee is working with City Staff to complete the
Iowa State Recreational Trails Grant Application for financial assistance in parking lot surfacing,
additional trail,landscaping,trailhead plaza structure,bollards,and signage at the Raccoon River
Valley Trailhead at 10th Street in Waukee;AND,
WHEREAS,in order to apply for grant money for this project from the Iowa Department of
Transportation as part of the Iowa State Recreational Trails Program,an official endorsement
from the Waukee City Council is required;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council places great importance on quality recreational trails
within the community;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee agrees to be responsible for the maintenance and operation of
the trail,site,structure and amenities for public use for a minimum of20 years following project
completion.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
16th day of June,2014,that it hereby approves and endorses the Iowa State Recreational Trails
Program grant application.
