RESOLUTION 14-219
AUTHORIZING THK SUBMITTAL OF A LETTER OF INTENT TO THE IOWA GREAT
PLACES GRANT PROGRAM RELATED TO THK WAUKKK TRAILHKAD PUBLIC
ART PRO JKCT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF lYAUXEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of iowa,is a duly organized Municipal
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Trailhead Public Art Project is part of a regional initiative to place
significant public art and cultural amenities along the 89-mile Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT);
AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Trailhead Public Art Committee and a consortium of RRVT communities is
coming together to submit a regional grant application which,if successful,will designate the RRVT
as an "Iowa Great Place"and will provide funding to support the construction of the Waukee Trailhead
Public Art project and similar cultural projects in other communities along the trail;AND,
WHEREAS,having the largest public art project currently planned for the RRVT,the City of Waukee
will serve as the lead grant applicant and if selected for funding will serve as fiscal agent for those
projects funded under the grant award.
NOW THEREFORE BK IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 18th
day of August,2014,that it hereby authorizes the submittal of a letter of intent to the iowa Great
Places Grant Program related to the Waukee Trailhead Public Art Proj ec).
