RESOLUTION 14-344
APPROVING 2015 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHOMTY OF THE CITY OF 8'A UICEE,ION'A
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State of Iowa,is a duly organized Municipa I
Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the City has an interest in several important issues that will be considered by the 2015
Iowa state legislature;AND,
WHEREAS,these issues impact the City's ability to meet the needs of a growing conununity and to
operate efficiently,AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council establishes the following 2015 legislative priorities:
1.Preserve the tools that give the City to ability to manage growth,e.g.urban renewal,annexation
2,Increase the amount of state funding to maintain and the City's growing transportation system,
e.g.road use tax,sales tax,use taxes
3.Allow cities to establish a local option sales tax through the use of a city-wide referendum
(potential uses for property tax relief,public safety,park development)
4.Ensure that the commercial and industrial property taxes are backfilied each year (State
conrmitment begins in FY 2015)
5.Maintain State of Iowa funding sources for local infrastructure projects,e.g.RISE,trails grants,
State Revolving Loan Fund (RLF)
6.Preserve the ability for the City to make decisions at a local level that is consistent with.the
spirit of Home Rule

of December,2014,that it hereby approves the 2015 legislative priorities.
