RESOLUTION 16-344
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR FUNDING FOR THE SE
BOONE DRIVE AND SE OLSON DRIVE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORIT Y OF THE CITY OF WA UKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County;AND,
WHEREAS,the Iowa Department of Transportation has established the Traffic Safety
Improvement Program and provides funding for locations where vehicular safety is a
concern and documented;AND,
WHEREAS,the intersection of SE Boone Drive and SE Olson Drive has been identified
as a location where vehicular safety and traffic flow could be improved and funded by
Traffic Safety Improvement Program;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined the conversion of the existing SE
Boone Drive and SE Olson Drive intersection to a mini roundabout from the existing four
way stop will decrease accidents and improve traffic operations.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 8"day of August,2016,that:
1.City Council supports and approves the application for Traffic Safety
Improvement Program funding.
2.The City Council hereby commits the additional City funds necessary for
construction of the project beyond and Traffic Safety Improvement Program
funding.
3.The City Council hereby commits to accepting and maintaining these
improvements.
4.The Mayor hereby authorized to execute the application on behalf of e City.
