SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Alice’s Road/170th Street Transmission Line
Relocation Phase 2 project includes all labor, materials and equipment necessary for lowering
approximately 2,000 feet of existing 8-inch diameter, coated, steel, natural gas transmission
pipeline along 170th Street in the City of Urbandale, IA, and miscellaneous associated work,
including cleanup and surface restoration. This relocation is required to accommodate the
Urbandale 170th Street (aka Alice’s Road) widening from the existing two lane rural cross section
to an urban five lane cross section.
Quotations were received on May 10, 2021. NPL of Lakeview, MN submitted the low quote in the
amount of $129,583.00. The contract, bond and certificate of insurance have been reviewed and
accepted by the design engineer, Utility Safety & Design, Inc. USDI does have previous experience
working with NPL on other similar natural gas projects and confirm that NPL are a qualified and
experienced contractor.

RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR ALICE’S Road/170TH
STREET TRANSMISSION LINE RELOCATION PHASE 2 PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the construction contact and bond executed and insurance coverage for the construction
of certain public improvements described in general as the Alice’s Road/170th Street
Transmission Line Relocation Phase 2 Project and described in detail in the plans and
specifications heretofore approved, and which have been signed by the Mayor and Clerk on
behalf of the City be and the same are hereby approved as follows:
Contractor: NPL of Lakeville, MN
Amount of bid: $129,583.00
Bond surety: Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland
Date of bond: June 5, 2021
Portion of project: All construction work
PASSED AND APPROVED this 14th day of June, 2021.
